Yoga classes will be designed to enhance the physical, physiological, mental and spiritual well being of the students who attend. They are meant to be another "way in" to your psychological healing. As we run these classes in the context of a therapeutic relationship with our clients, the classes will be geared towards not only what students need for the strength and flexibility of their bodies but also for their nervous system and their overall healing. These classes welcome people of all skill and ability level, with more emphasis on breath work and simple movements designed to move students towards higher healing. These classes are not about who is better or who is more skilled at the movements, but instead aim to help you go deeper inside yourself so that you can learn to be more embodied, aware, calm, nurtured and healthy.

We aim to design classes in the lineage of T. Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar who studied, developed and taught therapeutic yoga techniques to our teachers in the West. These teachings are indigenous to India and are based on thousands of years of knowledge development, observation, deep reflection and experimentation that have been codified by many scholars and mystics, who wrote such powerful works as the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads and many others and have been interpreted by the teachers in this lineage through tireless effort. We could never claim to have fully embodied these philosophies as so much of what is within them is cultural and language based, however, these tools are so powerful, that even the little that we have been able to grasp through years of study and self practice, have benefitted us and we hope they will benefit you. We appreciate the teachers from India who have generously, compassionately, directly and openly imparted their knowledge and skill with those of us in the West who have been interested. They can see that we need their teachings and that our lifestyles are out of balance and I appreciate the help that they have offered to me directly and to my teachers here in the West. May their efforts continue to help you heal as we practice together at CPYC.

Born in Brazil, raised in Portugal, educated in the USA and rooted in Canada, I can say my path has been a beautiful blend of cultures, opportunities and experiences.  My path to becoming a psychotherapist started in 2005 when I decided to move from Portugal to Montana, USA for my undergraduate program in Psychology, where I also had the opportunity to represent my University through tennis, traveling and competing across the United States.  In 2008, I continued my education with a Masters in Mental Health Counselling in New York, USA. So far in my career, I have worked in crisis response, in acute psychiatric facilities, community work, meeting families in their home environments, as well as outpatient services.  I have always felt a call towards being a Psychotherapist, and that call, as I understand it now, was my being, my inner light wanting to experience and call other people’s inner light, through caring, compassionate presence. It is honour to have this opportunity.

I am always looking to learn, consistently educating myself as well as deepening my understanding of who I am, and my purpose. I feel blessed that I get the opportunity to know, and witness so many brave souls shine in their journeys.
